Delaware State second baseman Justin Bittner earned MEAC Player of the Week honors in baseball, the league announced on Monday. Norfolk State’s Brandon Hairston earned Rookie of the Week accolades for the second straight week, while Bethune-Cookman’s Eric Thomas was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Bittner (2B, 5-10, Sr., Newark, Del.) hit .500 with two home runs, one double and seven RBI to lead the Hornets to a 3-0 record last week. During the final game of a three-game sweep of Coppin State, Bittner was 3-of-4 from the plate (.750) and hit one home run, one double and five RBI.
Hairston (1B, 5-11, Fr., North Garden, Virginia) helped Norfolk State to three victories last week to extend their win streak to six while batting .455 (5-of-11) from the plate. Hairston tallied one home run, two doubles, and six RBI in the victories. This is the second consecutive week that Hairston has earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Thomas (P, 5-11, Jr., Gainesville, Florida) allowed just one run on five hits while striking out five North Carolina A&T State Aggie batters in six innings. Thomas recorded a 1.50 ERA as the Wildcats collected the 7-1 victory.

John Boyd (NSU) recorded three doubles and 10 RBI for the Spartans in three games played.
Steve Cunningham (FAMU) was 3-of-5 from the plate (.600) and recorded four RBI in two games for the Rattlers.
Justin Hoyte (B-CU) posted one double and three RBI while hitting perfect (2-of-2) in a18-6 win over North Carolina A&T.
Jeremy Jones (NCAT) hit a two-run homerun to help the Aggies defeat non-conference foe UNC-Greensboro for the first time in six years.
Tim Jones (FAMU) was perfect (3-of-3) from the plate in a win over Concordia including one triple and three RBI.
Jeremy Ruperto (B-CU) hit .333 with one double and four RBI to help the Wildcats to a 3-1 mark last week.
Josh Schmidt (DSU) struck out nine of 20 batters in five innings to earn the win against Coppin State.
Harry Williams (CSU) tallied a home run, one double and one RBI, on 2-of-3 from the plate, against Delaware State.
