Baseball 3/25/2008 4:00:00 AM MEAC Media Relations DSU Swept By Canisius Canisius completed a two-game series sweep of Delaware State with a 21-11 win at Solider Field on Wednesday. The Griffs improved to 16-2 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 4-18. Alec Cabello knocked in five runs and Conner Burke drove in four to lead Canisius. The Griffs pounded out 21 hits on seven Delaware State pitchers. Jarrett Bibb led the Hornets with three hits and four RBI. Justin Bittner knocked in three runs, while Wynton Weather had a two-run homer for DSU. Canisius scored three runs in the top of the first. The Hornets got one back when Bittner doubled in Jim Johnson in the bottom of the inning. Canisius scored four times in the second inning to open up a 7-1 lead. Delaware State answered with four runs in the bottom of the second. The big blow in the inning was Weather’s two-run homer. The Griffs led 9-5 when they exploded for six runs in the fifth, highlighted by Cabello’s three-run double. Canisius added six runs in the top of the sixth, two on a homer by Donato, to open up a 21-5 lead. Bibb smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to pull the Hornets to within 21-9.
