NSU's Schabacker Named Black College Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Norfolk State pitcher Leon Schabacker was named the Black College Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 17.

Schabacker, a senior right hander, threw his second consecutive shutout and third in four starts this season against Longwood this past Sunday. Schabacker allowed just three hits to go with a season-high nine strikeouts in the 6-0 NSU victory in game one of the doubleheader with the Lancers.

Schabacker is now 3-1 with a 1.04 ERA in four starts this season. He has allowed just 14 hits and three earned runs while fanning 22 in 26 innings pitched. Schabacker is the second Spartan to earn this award this season, after Joey Seal (Newport News, Va.) did likewise two weeks ago.

NSU (7-6) remained at No. 5 in this week’s Black College Baseball Division I poll. The Spartans host VMI on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
