The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will hold the 2007 MEAC Baseball Championship tournament May 17-20 at the Marty L. Miller Baseball Field on the campus of Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia.
Defending MEAC Champion Bethune-Cookman (16-1) Wildcats earned the top seed for the second consecutive season. The Wildcats have won nine of the last 11 MEAC baseball titles and will compete for the chance to win their second straight crown. They will face sixth seeded Maryland Eastern Shore in the opening game beginning at 10 a.m.
Baseball action continues at 2 p.m. with the Rattlers of Florida A&M (No. 2) facing off against the Spartans of Norfolk State (No. 5). Thursday’s final game takes place at 6 p.m. with the Aggies of North Carolina A&T (No. 3) taking on the Hornets of Delaware State (No. 4).
The baseball playoffs will continue on Friday and Saturday with the defeated teams from day one facing off with one another attempting to hold off a second game elimination loss. The winner’s bracket picks up on Saturday at 2 p.m., where the winner will advance to the championship game.
Only the top six teams out of seven participating institutions will participate in the baseball championship tournaments. Coppin State was eliminated from tournament play based on its conference record.
The baseball championship final tips-off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. A second game, if necessary will be played at 6 p.m.
