NORFOLK, Va. – The top-seeded Howard Bison captured the 2026 MEAC Softball Championship with an 11-2 victory in five innings over No. 3 seed South Carolina State on Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Field. With the win, Howard secured back-to-back conference tournament titles and earned the MEAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Softball Championship.

Howard’s offense erupted early and never slowed down, totaling 11 runs on nine hits while drawing eight walks in the championship victory. The Bison capitalized on scoring opportunities throughout the afternoon and controlled the game from start to finish.

Maryn Jordan led the offensive attack with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Makyia Taylor added three RBI, while Lauryn Jones reached base three times, scored once and drove in a run. Howard also received contributions from across the lineup, recording nine hits and 10 RBI in the championship clincher.

South Carolina State finished with four hits in the contest, highlighted by a home run and two RBI. Despite the Bulldogs’ postseason run through the elimination bracket, Howard’s offense proved too much to overcome.

Howard showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks and swiping two bases while limiting South Carolina State to just two strikeouts offensively. Defensively, the Bison played error-free softball in the title game.

With the victory, Howard repeated as MEAC Softball Champions and advanced to the NCAA Softball Championship tournament.
