WASHINGTON (May 10, 2026) – The NCAA Softball Committee unveiled its 64-team field for the 2026 NCAA Division I Championship where Howard University drew the Durham Regional. The announcement came Sunday night during the NCAA Selection Show, live on ESPN2.
Friday (May 15), HU meets No. 12 Duke in Durham, N.C. First-pitch is slated for noon, live on the ACC Network.
Saturday (May 9), Howard captured its second consecutive MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Tournament Championship, defeating South Carolina State, 11-2 (f/5), in Norfolk, Va.
Reigning MEAC Player of the Year senior outfielder
Maryn Jordan (San Diego) was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player while junior catcher
Makyia Taylor (Temecula, Calif.) and senior pitcher
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) earned MEAC All-Tournament Team honors. Bison head coach
Tori Tyson was selected Most Outstanding Coach.
Duke (39-14) will host the four-team, double-elimination tournament inside Smith Family Stadium. Arizona (35-16) and Marshall (37-17) faceoff in the other matchup in Durham.
Regionals will be held May 15-17 and the 16 winning teams advance to the super regionals (May 21-24).
ESPN will provide coverage from all 16 regional sites on its platforms, which was announced during the NCAA Softball Selection Show.
