(May 13, 2026) – Another accomplished group of Morgan State student-athletes has completed their academic journey and will be prepared to enter the professional world upon the conclusion of their athletic careers. A total of 41 student-athletes are scheduled to receive their degrees during Morgan State's 149th Spring Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m. at W.A.C. Hughes Memorial Stadium on the university's campus. "This weekend we celebrate perseverance, growth, and the incredible impact this graduating class has made on the Morgan State community," said Dena Freeman-Patton, vice president and director for Intercollegiate Athletics at Morgan. "We are deeply grateful to our student-athletes and now graduates as they take the next step in their journey. We are excited to watch them continue to lead, compete, and succeed in everything they pursue. Go Bears!" Twelve athletic programs are represented on this year's list of graduates. All but one team will have participants in the ceremony, as the women's tennis program has no student-athletes scheduled to graduate this year. Football leads all men's programs with 13 graduates, while women's basketball paces the women's programs with six. Football's Erick Hunter, who completed his degree requirements in December, is slated to take part in the commencement ceremony this weekend following a standout season in which he earned All-America honors and cemented his place in the program's record books. Hunter finishes his career ranked second all-time in tackles with 298 stops. Women's bowling standout Johnna Hill is also scheduled to graduate after earning her second First Team All-MEAC selection this season. Overall, more than 1,200 Morgan State students are expected to participate in the commencement ceremonies. Morgan State will also host its Graduate School Spring Commencement on Thursday, May 14, where more than 400 master's and doctoral candidates will receive their degrees, followed by the undergraduate ceremony on Saturday, May 16.
