Road to the 2026 MEAC Softball Crown Begins May 6 in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va., May 1, 2026 — The 2026 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship will feature four days of competition in Norfolk, Virginia, culminating in the championship game, which will air live on ESPN+ at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. 
  
Tournament play will begin on Wednesday, May 6, featuring a full slate of opening-round games scheduled for 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m. at TowneBank Softball Field on the campus of Norfolk State University. 
The No. 4 Norfolk State Spartans will take on No. 5 seed Morgan State in the tournament’s opening game at 11 a.m. on May 6. 

The 2 p.m. matchup will feature the No. 3 South Carolina State Bulldogs against No. 6 Coppin State. 

Howard, who enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed, awaits its opponent for the 5 p.m. matchup and will take on the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game. 

No. 2 seed Delaware State will play in the late-night matchup, where it will face the winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game at 8 p.m. 
  
Action continues Thursday, featuring three more games. Two elimination contests from the consolation bracket take place at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a winner's bracket showdown at 6 p.m. to determine the first team to punch its ticket to Saturday’s final. 
  
Friday’s schedule includes two more elimination games, with the final contest at 2 p.m. The winning team will advance to Saturday to challenge the unbeaten finalist for the MEAC championship title.
