2026 MEAC Softball Tournament Bracket Finalized, Howard Earns Top Seed

NORFOLK, Va., April 28, 2026 – The 2026 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship field is officially set, with Howard University earning the top seed after a dominate regular season.  

Howard closed out conference play with an 18-3 mark and enters the tournament with a 25-17 overall record. Earning a first-round bye, the Bison will face the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. 

Delaware State secured the No. 2 seed after posting a 26-16 overall record and going 15-6 in MEAC play. The Hornets also receive a first-round bye and will open their tournament run at 8 p.m. on May 6 against the winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game. 

South Carolina State claimed the No. 3 seed following a strong turnaround season, finishing 12-9 in conference play. They will face No. 6 seed Coppin State, which enters the tournament with an 8-25 overall record and a 7-14 mark in MEAC competition. The first pitch for that matchup is set for 2 p.m. on May 6. 

Norfolk State earned the No. 4 seed with a 22-19 overall record and a 12-9 conference mark. The Spartans will take on No. 5 seed Morgan State, which closed out the regular season at 9-12 in conference play, in the tournament’s opening game at 11 a.m. on May 6.
