MEAC Announces Weekly Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 8, 2026 --Howard senior Aniya Woodruff was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while Norfolk State freshman Emma Svetiev earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors. 
 
Woodruff (Sr., Harrisburg, N.C.) claimed gold at the Texas Relays, clocking 58.15 seconds, a mark that ranks 27th nationally and is the second-fastest time in the MEAC. 
 
Svetiev  (Fr., Norfolk, Va.) won the pole vault at the NSU Invitational, clearing 3.39 meters to claim the top vault in the MEAC. 
 
Other Top Performers 
  • Aleah Alexander (MSU) recorded a personal-best 1.63 meters in the high jump to claim silver at the George Mason Invitational. 
  • Kelis Armstrong (HOW) finished ninth overall in the long jump with a leap of 5.75 meters, the second-best mark in the MEAC.  
  • Valerie Ashamu (DSU) placed second in the high jump at the Princeton Sam Howell Meet, clearing 1.72 meters, which currently ties for the best high jump mark in the MEAC. 
  • Autumn Burrell (NSU) won the 100 meters in 11.68 seconds and helped the 4x100m relay team capture first place in 46.45 seconds at the NSU Invitational. 
  • Rebecca Jansen (DSU) clocked in at17:46.27 in the 5,000 meters at the Princeton Sam Howell Meet, breaking the Delaware State school record. 
  • Tia Lucas (NCCU) cleared 1.72 meters to win the women’s high jump at the VertKlasse Invitational. 
  • Gifty Oku (CSU) finished fourth in the 400 meters in 56.11 seconds and in the 4x100 meter relay in 46.21 seconds at the George Mason Invitational. 
  • Jonysha Prucien (UMES) claimed gold in the triple jump at the Norfolk State University Invitational with a mark of 12.21 meters. 
  • Nia Singleton (SCSU) finished the 800 meters in 2:12.75 at the Embry-Riddle Classic. 
  • Angelina Stabile (SCSU) placed fifth in the pole vault at the Embry-Riddle Classic, clearing 3.05 meters, which ranks third in the MEAC. 
  • Melanne Sutton (NCCU) claimed victories in both the 100 meters, clocking 11.41 seconds, and the 200 meters, with a time of 23.82 seconds, at the VertKlasse Invitational.
