NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 1, 2026 --Howard graduate student Marcia Sey was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while
Delaware State sophomore Valerie Ashamu earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Sey (Gs., London, United Kingdom) finished second in the 100m hurdles at the UCF Knights Invite with a MEAC-best 13.06, which ranks fourth nationally.
Ashamu (So., Elkridge, Md.) broke the Delaware State record at the Raleigh Relays, placing seventh in the high jump with a MEAC-best, leap of 1.72m.
Other Top Performers
- Temi Banwo (HOW) finished seventh in the shot put at the UCF Knights Invite with a MEAC-best throw of 14.25 meters.
- Merasia Johnson (DSU) set a program record in the 800m with a time of 2:14.97 at the Raleigh Relays.
- Azariah Jones (MSU) set a personal-best in the pole vault with a clearance of 2.78 meters to place fourth at the Bill Carson Invitational, ranking third in the MEAC.
- Anyra Knight (MSU) claimed silver in the 100m hurdles at the Bill Carson Invitational with a time of 14.11 seconds, ranking eighth in the MEAC.
- Tia Lucas (NCCU) placed 13th in the high jump at the Raleigh Relays with a clearance of 1.67 meters.
- Gifty Oku (CSU) recorded a time of 12.17 seconds in the 100m and 24.71 seconds in the 200m at the Raleigh Relays.
- Lyee Simms (UMES) won the high jump at the Bill Carson Invitational with a mark of 1.60 meters.
- Jamayla Stansbury (UMES) placed fourth in the 100m, recording a time of 11.96 seconds, and ran the 200m in 25.37 seconds at the Bill Carson Invitational.
- Melanne Sutton (NCCU) placed 12th in the 100m in 11.68 seconds and 19th in the 200m in 24.32 seconds at the Raleigh Relays.
