MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 1, 2026 — Coppin State senior Solomon Hammond was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Howard sophomore Drew Dillard earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.  
 
Hammond (Sr., Ghana) won the 100m at the Raleigh Relays, clocking in at 10.21 to rank 11th nationally. He also placed seventh in the 200m with a time of 20.97 and helped the 4x100 relay to a fifth-place finish.  
 
Dillard (So., Silver Spring, Md.) won the high jump at the UCF Knights Invite with a MEAC-best 2.15m leap, which ranks ninth nationally. 
 
Other Top Performers 

  • Zion Amadi (NCCU) clocked a 47.20 time in the 400m to finish 15th at the Raleigh Relays. 

  • Marian Drazan (DSU) recorded a MEAC-best in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:50.73. 

  • Chege Kaba (MSU) claimed silver in the 400m hurdles with a MEAC-best 53.42 at the Bill Carson Invitational. 

  • Ja'Mari Manson (DSU) placed second in the high jump with a 2.06m clearance. 

  • Siyabonga Mbatha (UMES) ran a personal-best 3:53.52 in the 1500m to place third at the Bill Carson Invitational. 

  • Theodore Skinner (NCCU) cleared 1.96m in the high jump at the Raleigh Relays. 

  • Demond Smith (MSU) recorded a MEAC-best 48.58m in the discus and added a 46.62m mark in the hammer throw, placing third in both events at the Bill Carson Invitational. 

  • Sean Williams (CSU) cleared 2.01m in the high jump at the Raleigh Relays.
