Howard Secures 2026 MEAC Regular-Season Title - MEAC Announces 2026 Men’s Basketball Tournament Seeding Men's Basketball | 3/6/2026 12:03:28 AM The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has announced the seeding for the 2026 MEAC Men’s Basketball Tournament, scheduled for March 11–14 at Norfolk Scope Arena. Howard secured the 2026 MEAC regular-season title with an 11–3 conference record and a 21–10 overall mark, earning the tournament’s No. 1 seed. Morgan State (10–4) claimed the No. 2 seed following a 70–66 victory over Coppin State University in the regular-season finale. The Bears won four of their final five games to secure the second-place position in the conference standings. North Carolina Central and defending tournament champion Norfolk State both finished 8–6 in conference play. North Carolina Central secured the No. 3 seed after winning the tiebreaker, while Norfolk State (15–15 overall) enters tournament play as the No. 4 seed following an 84–76 loss to Howard in the season finale. South Carolina State University (7–7) enters the tournament as the No. 5 seed, while Maryland Eastern Shore secured the No. 6 seed with a 5–9 conference record. Delaware State University (2–12) rounds out the field as the No. 7 seed. Coppin State (5–9) is ineligible for postseason competition. Tournament play opens Wednesday, March 11, with No. 2 Morgan State facing No. 7 Delaware State at 6 p.m. Quarterfinal action begins Thursday, March 12, with No. 4 Norfolk State taking on No. 5 South Carolina State in a rematch of last year’s tournament championship game at 6 p.m. No. 3 North Carolina Central will face No. 6 Maryland Eastern Shore at 8 p.m. Top-seeded Howard will await the winner of Game 6 and will make its first tournament appearance on Friday, March 13, at 6 p.m. The MEAC Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination event featuring both the conference’s men’s and women’s teams. Quarterfinal and semifinal games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The men’s championship game will tip off at 1 p.m. and air live on ESPN2.
