Howard University guard Cedric Taylor III and Morgan State University guard Elijah Davis were named Co-Players of the Week. Coppin State University guard Cameron Sparrow earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Norfolk State University guard Adrean Newton was named Rookie of the Week. Cedric Taylor III (G, Jr., 6-7, 210, Atlanta, Ga.) averaged 20.0 points per game while shooting 64 percent from the field in a pair of conference wins over Delaware State University and North Carolina Central University. Against North Carolina Central, Taylor recorded 21 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four blocks. He followed with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block in the victory over Delaware State. Elijah Davis (G, Gr., 6-1, 175, Severn, Md.) scored 25 points against North Carolina Central and added 15 points versus Delaware State to help the Bears to a 1-1 mark in conference play last week. He shot 53 percent (8-of-15) from the field against NCCU, adding five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. In the win over Delaware State, Davis posted 15 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and a school-tying record 15 assists. Cameron Sparrow (G, Jr., 6-4, 185, Baltimore, Md.) collected 15 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in two conference victories. He also contributed 15 points and five assists across the two games. Adrean Newton (G, Fr., 6-0, 165, Norfolk, Va.) totaled nine points, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals in wins over University of Maryland Eastern Shore and South Carolina State University. Other Top Performances Travelle Bryson (Howard) scored 22 points, shooting 91 percent from the field (10-of-11), with eight rebounds and one steal in a win over North Carolina Central. William Hussain (Coppin State) totaled 25 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and one steal in back-to-back wins over South Carolina State and Maryland Eastern Shore. Gage Lattimore (North Carolina Central) tallied 47 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and six steals in three conference games last week. Anthony McComb III (Norfolk State) recorded 24 points, shooting 4-of-5 (80 percent) from three-point range, with two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in a win over South Carolina State. Kelechi Okworogwo (North Carolina Central) averaged 15.3 points, five assists, three steals, and five blocks in three conference contests last week.
