HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE

Morgan State scored four runs in the first two innings, while UMES managed its lone run in the top of the third.

Makalah Clark led off the inning with a single to the pitcher and later advanced to third on a groundout. Amaya Nunez followed with a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Clark to score and cut the deficit to 4–1 before the inning came to a close.

UMES threatened again in the top of the fifth with the bases loaded while trailing 7–1. Paris Richards opened the frame with a walk and Kinsey Mentzer entered as a pinch runner. Clark singled to move Mentzer to second, and Emily Gunther followed with a single to advance Mentzer to third and Clark to second. Nunez reached on a fielder's choice with Mentzer thrown out at home, and a strikeout ended the inning with the Hawks unable to capitalize.

Morgan State continued its offensive momentum, adding its remaining runs over the final innings to secure a 9–1 victory in Game 1.

Makalah Clark delivered the key hit of the inning with a two-RBI single through the right side, bringing home Gunther and Lacey to give the Hawks a 2–0 lead before the frame came to a close.
