NORFOLK, Va., Mar. 17, 2026 -- North Carolina Central senior Naresh Bharathy has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Pol Puig Montiel earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors. 
 
Bharathy (Sr., Tamil Nadu, India) earned his first MEAC singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Howard’s Michael Major Jr, helping NCCU start 1-0 in conference play. He also teamed with Antoni Pankowski to win three doubles matches during Spring Break, contributing across multiple team victories. 
 
Puig Montiel (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, including a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over Howard and a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Fairfield. 

Other Top Performers  

• Marcin Andrzejczak (NSU) went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, including a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win over Eduardo Brustia (Shaw) and a three-set victory over Kaua Santos (NCAT).  
• Szymon Malecki (NSU) went 2-0 in singles, defeating Shaw 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 and NCAT 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 2.
