Coppin State’s Morris Earns Top Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va., February 16, 2026 – Coppin State guard Khila Morris was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week presented by Wells Fargo.  Delaware State guard Amya Scott was named Rookie of the Week, while Coppin State’s Sydney Burris earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.        

Morris (G, 5-11, Sr., Bronx, N.Y.) averaged 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks on 62% shooting from the field in Coppin State’s 2-0 week. Against South Carolina State, she turned in an all-around performance with 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. She followed that with 16 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block against NC Central, finishing the week with 38 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and three blocks. 

Scott (Fr., 5-3, F., Philadelphia, Pa.) tallied 24 points over three games while adding five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Her week was highlighted by a 16-point effort versus Howard, which also included three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. 

Burris (Sr, 6-0, F., Milwaukee, Wi.) grabbed 20 rebounds, recorded five blocks, added four steals, and scored 25 points in a 2-0 week for Coppin State. Against South Carolina State, she totaled eight rebounds, one block, and three steals. She followed that performance by posting a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, along with a career-high four blocks and one steal in the win at NC Central. 

Other Top Performers 
  • Morgan Callahan (NCCU) grabbed 29 rebounds, scored 27 points, and contributed seven steals along with two blocks over a 2-1 week for the Eagles. 
  • Jasha Clinton (NSU) averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 steals, 3.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds en route to Norfolk State’s 2-0 week. 
  • Aniya Finger (NCCU) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Delaware State. 
  • Jermesha Frierson (DSU) scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds against NC Central. 
  • Ericka Huggins (DSU) scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and added two steals over two games. 
  • Tiyanna James (MSU) scored a career-high 23 points off the bench while adding two steals and an assist in an overtime loss against NC Central. 
  • Ashanti Lynch (UMES) scored 22 points and collected 14 rebounds with two steals across two games for Maryland Eastern Shore. 
  • Zoe Stewart (HOW) led Howard with 31 points on 62 percent shooting over two wins while adding two steals and two rebounds. 
  • Desi Taylor (UMES) tallied 13 points with six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block across two games. 
  • Zennia Thomas (HOW) scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, adding two steals and two blocks across two wins for Howard. 
  • Maya Woodson (MSU) scored five points and grabbed 13 rebounds versus NC Central.
