MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 11, 2026—Delaware State sophomore Ian Cain was selected as Men's Track Athlete of the Week while teammate Christopher Johnson earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.       

Cain (So., Camden, Del.) clocked a personal-best 1:52.54 in the 800 meters to rank fourth all-time at Delaware State and third in the MEAC this season. He also recorded a personal-best 8:54.26 in the 3,000 meters and ran on the Hornets’ first-place distance medley relay team that posted a 10:15.99, which currently ranks second in the MEAC this year. 
 
Johnson (Sr., Willingboro, N.J.) won the shot put with a mark of 17.05 meters and placed second in the weight throw at 16.25 meters. Both marks set Delaware State school records and currently rank first in the MEAC. 

Other Top Performers 
  • Jorim Bangue (HOW) placed third overall in the 60-meter hurdles at the Wisconsin Windy City Classic, clocking a 7.93 that ranks second in the MEAC. 
  • Rahkeem Fasion (NSU) placed sixth in the 60-meter finals at the 2026 Penn Classic, posting a time of 6.86. 
  • Doyin Smith (MSU) recorded a personal-best 6.83 to place sixth in the 60 meters at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge.  
  • Sean Wray (HOW) captured the triple jump title at the Wisconsin Windy City Classic with a MEAC-best leap of 15.31 meters.
