BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 20, 2025) -- Morgan State senior guard Walter Peggs Jr. poured in a game-high 23 points as the Bears rolled to a 128–53 non-conference victory over the University of Virginia-Lynchburg on Tuesday night at Hill Field House.

The season-high 128-point outburst marked the second time Morgan State has eclipsed the 100-point mark this season, after scoring 101 points against Central Penn on Nov. 6 at Hill Field House. With the win, the Bears improved to 6–13 overall and 2–2 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Dragons fell to 0–23 on the season.

NOTE THE QUOTE | COACH KEVIN BROADUS

On the team's performance:
"We were really working on ourselves more than anything else tonight. It was almost like a practice environment, but it gave some of the guys who don't always get a chance to play an opportunity to get their feet wet, because you never know when you might need them. That was the main thing for us. Now it's real. It's back to real basketball and real competition."

On Marland Harris' performance:
"Marlon has been playing well the last few games, so I felt really good about his performance. We're trying to get him back up to speed, and 18 points and 10 rebounds is what we look for from him. He and [Christian] Meeks have to do those things every night, not just against a team like this."

On returning to conference play:
"We've got to be tough. We're heading on the road for the next three games, so toughness is going to be critical. The guys understand that it just got real tonight."

NEXT UP

The Morgan State men's basketball team will look to add to the win column on Saturday, Jan. 24, as the Bears travel to Washington, D.C., to face the Howard Bison at Burr Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
