North Carolina Central running back Chris Mosley has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today. Howard linebacker Ja’Quavion Smithearned Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Morgan State running back Randall Nauden was selected as Rookie of the Week. NCCU offensive lineman Trevon Humphrey collected Offensive Lineman of the Week accolades, and NCCU kicker/punter Kaleb Robison was recognized as Specialist of the Week.
Mosley (NCCU, RB, 5-11, 180, r-Sr., Fort Worth, Texas) accounted for five total touchdowns, three rushing and two receiving, in NCCU’s 62-20 win over North Carolina A&T. He rushed for 168 yards on just 11 carries (15.3 avg.) and added four receptions for 90 yards with two scores, contributing 25 of the Eagles’ points in the rivalry victory.
Smith (Howard, LB, 6-1, 205, Wingate, N.C.) tallied seven tackles (four solo), including three tackles for loss and two sacks totaling 19 yards against Hampton. He also forced a fumble and broke up a pass in the Bison’s 34-7 win.
Nauden (Morgan State, RB, 5-10, 195, r-Fr., Olympia Fields, Ill.) carried the ball nine times for 38 yards and a touchdown, averaging 3.8 yards per carry, to help the Bears secure their first win of the season over Central State.
Humphrey (NCCU, OL, 6-5, 285, r-Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) anchored an offensive line that powered NCCU to a program-record 745 yards of total offense in the win over North Carolina A&T, including 346 rushing yards. He graded out at 92 percent with four pancake blocks.
Robison (NCCU, K/P, 6-2, 190, So., Middleburg, Fla.) went a perfect 7-for-7 on PATs and added a 21-yard field goal in the victory over North Carolina A&T. He averaged 61.2 yards per kickoff with six touchbacks on the day.
