Ryan Starke has been named the
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, while Hornets teammate
Hannay Perry earned
Rookie of the Week honors following outstanding performances during competition play held November 15-16 at the Coppin State Lady Eagles Invitational in Gwynn Oak, Maryland.
Starke (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO) helped lead Delaware State to a third-place overall finish , posting a 3-2 record in traditional play and an undefeated 4-0 mark in Baker matches. She averaged 214.8 in traditional play , with strong performances against Bowie State, Mount Saint Mary’s, Fayetteville State, Felician University, and a second match against Mount Saint Mary’s. In Baker competition, Starke contributed scores of 158, 214, 181, and 168, helping her team remain undefeated in the format. For the week, she tied for most frames bowled and led the MEAC in average per frame (20.87), Baker fill percentage (20.23), overall fill percentage (86.), and strike percentage (57.), while ranking second in all spare conversation (67.4) and single-pin conversation (94.4).
Perry (Fr., Wake Forest, NC) delivered a strong performance as a freshman standout, finishing 38th at the Coppin State Invitational with a traditional play average of 176, including matches against Mount Saint Mary’s, Fayetteville State, Felician University, and Mount Saint Mary’s. In Baker play, she posted scores of 150, 239, 180, and 204. Perry ranked third in average per frame (18.43), second in Baker fill percentage (19.28), third in overall fill percentage (80.0), third in strike percentage (42.5), and fifth in all spare conversion (65.2) for the week.
