Coppin State Volleyball Falls to #2 Arizona State in First Round of NCAA Tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. – Coppin State's volleyball team fell at #2 Arizona State, 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-12) on Thursday night at Desert Financial Arena. The Eagles' season comes to an end with a 23-12 overall record while the Sun Devils improve to 27-3 on the year and advance to the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
TaKenya Stafford led CSU with five kills, followed by Cherisse Atilano with four and both Kayden Cupid and Ayanna Pharoah with three kills apiece. Cupid had a team-high three blocks to go over the century mark for the season, followed by Atilano with two.
 
Coco Figueroa led the Eagles in the back row with nine digs, followed by Stafford with six and Atilano with four.  Atilano, Figueroa and Andrea Cintron all served one ace while Azul Pilahg was credited with eight assists.
 
Noemie Glover, who is a semifinalist for the AVCA National Player of the Year, led ASU with 14 kills on .522 hitting as the Sun Devils held the Eagles to a -.082 hitting percentage with 11.0 total blocks. Arizona State hit .405 as a team.
