NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) enters Week 13 of football action as teams round out conference play.
Conference play continues Saturday as North Carolina Central will take on the Morgan State Bears, Norfolk State and Howard will kick off at 3:30 p.m. at Audi Field, and South Carolina State will visit Alumni Stadium to face Delaware State with a trip to the Cricket Bowl Celebration and the MEAC regular-season championship on the line.

The final two undefeated teams in the MEAC will collide Saturday as South Carolina State travels to Alumni Stadium to face the Delaware State Hornets in a winner-take-all showdown. South Carolina State enters the final week of the regular season with an 8-3 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in league play. The Bulldogs boast the MEAC’s top-ranked passing offense, surpassing 3,100 total yards and averaging 289.4 yards per game through the air. That production is led by the graduate quarterback duo William Atkins IV and Ryan Stubblefield. Atkins has thrown for 2,074 yards on the year, while Stubblefield has completed 84-of-146 passes for 1,060 yards. In their most recent outing, a 34-27 win over North Carolina Central; the Bulldogs posted 454 total yards of offense. Atkins powered the passing attack, finishing 24-of-36 for 314 yards and three touchdowns. Delaware State enters the matchup with its own unblemished 4-0 conference record and an identical 8-3 overall mark. In his first season at the helm, head coach Desaun Jackson has guided the Hornets to the MEAC’s No. 1 total offense, including a league-best rushing attack that has amassed 3,041 yards, over 1,160 yards more than any other conference opponent. The Hornets are coming off a 26-13 home victory over Howard behind a dominant ground performance. Delaware State rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Marquis Gillis led the way with 92 yards on 5.8 yards per carry, while James Jones added 34. Saturday’s matchup will mark the 16th meeting between the programs, with South Carolina State holding a 12-3 advantage in the all-time series. The winner of Saturday’s contest will be crowned the 2025 MEAC Football champion and earn a berth to the 2025 Cricket Celebration Bowl, to be played December 13, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Morgan State Bears will host the North Carolina Central Eagles this weekend at Hughes Stadium to close out the regular season. Morgan State enters the matchup following a narrow 14-12 loss to Delaware State in Week 12, where a potential game-winning 45-yard field goal sailed wide in the final moments. Redshirt freshman quarterback Raymond Moore finished 10-for-24 for 112 yards, and Joseph Kennerly Jr. led the receiving unit with three catches for 40 yards. North Carolina Central comes in after a 34-27 loss at South Carolina State. Quarterback Walker Harris threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns, leaving him just 50 yards shy of becoming the second Eagle in program history to surpass 3,000 passing yards in a single season and running back Chris Mosley added his fifth 100-yard performance of the year, posting 105 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. This will mark the 46th meeting between North Carolina Central and Morgan State, dating back to their first matchup on Nov. 15, 1930. The Bears hold a 23-20-2 lead in the all-time series.

The Norfolk State Spartans and the Howard Bison will square off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to conclude the 2025 MEAC football regular season. Norfolk State, despite its struggles this season, has proven to be a formidable opponent in conference play, entering the matchup on a four-game skid with each loss decided by one score or less. The Spartans come into the contest led by Kevon King’s 189 rushing yards and X’Zavion Evans’ 107 yards on the ground, along with quarterback Vinson Berry, who completed 17-of-31 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s 35-28 loss to Morgan State. Howard enters the matchup at 4-7 after a 26-13 defeat at Delaware State in Week 12. Quarterback Tyriq Starks posted a season-high performance, completing 22-of-39 passes for 252 yards. Freshman wide receiver Antonio Hunter recorded a career- and team season-high eight receptions for 81 yards. Norfolk State and Howard last met in 2024, with the Spartans earning a 21-20 victory. Norfolk State currently leads the all-time series, 9-6.
