2025 Week 12 MEAC Football Preview

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) enters Week 12 of football action as teams round out conference play. Action gets underway Friday night as South Carolina State visits Durham, N.C., to take on the North Carolina Central Eagles. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. and will be live on ESPN2.

Conference play continues Saturday, as Morgan State travels to Virginia to face the Norfolk State Spartans at 12:00 p.m., while Howard takes on Delaware State in Dover, Del., with kickoff at 1:00 p.m.

MEAC front-runners will collide Friday as South Carolina State travels to O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium to face North Carolina Central. North Carolina Centrals’ offense sits atop the conference behind the standout play of redshirt senior quarterback Walker Harris, who was named MEAC Offensive Player of the Week after surpassing the 2,500-yard mark for the season. Harris threw for 265 yards in NCCU’s 31-28 win over Norfolk State.  South Carolina State enters the matchup riding a five-game winning streak, most recently defeating Howard, 42-12. Quarterback William Atkins IV completed 15 of 24 passes for 256 yards in that contest, while the Bulldogs’ rushing unit added 135 yards on the ground. This will mark the 30th meeting between the Bulldogs and Eagles, with NCCU holding a narrow 15-14 edge in the all-time series.

The Norfolk State Spartans will host the Morgan State Bulldogs on Saturday at noon, as both programs seek their first conference win of the season. Morgan State enters the matchup following a heartbreaking 14-12 loss to Delaware State, decided by a missed 45-yard field goal. The Bears’ rushing attack totaled 227 yards, led by Randall Nauden, who ran for 105 yards on seven attempts, while Raymond More II added 112 passing yards.  Norfolk State comes off a strong running performance of their own, gaining 220 yards on the ground, led by Kevon King, who rushed for 153 yards, and 239 total passing yards behind graduate quarterback Otto Kuhns, who completed 16-of-26 passes for 197 yards. Despite the effort, the Spartans fell 31-28 to North Carolina Central.  Norfolk State currently holds a 14-3 series lead over Morgan State entering Saturday’s contest; however, the Bulldogs have won the last two meetings.
 
Howard Bison (4-6, 1-2 MEAC) at Delaware State Hornets (7-3, 3-0 MEAC)

The first place defense in the MEAC, Howard, will travel to Alumni Stadium to face offensive powerhouse Delaware State, winners of their last four games on Saturday. The Bison lead the league in scoring defense, allowing just 25.4 points per game. In Howard’s last outing against South Carolina State, the Bison showcased a balanced attack, totaling 146 passing yards and 103 rushing yards. They now face a high-powered Delaware State offense that has amassed 2,836 rushing yards, 1,123 more than any other team in the conference.  The Hornets enter the matchup following a 14-12 win over Morgan State, decided by a missed field goal on the final drive. In that game, James Jones rushed for 115 yards, while quarterback Kaiden Bennett threw for 159 yards, marking his third game with over 150 passing yards this season.  The two programs have met 15 times in program history, with Howard holding a narrow 8-7 series lead over Delaware State. Their most recent meeting in 2024 resulted in a 38-0 win for the Bison.
