The Delaware State women's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Raleigh Relays, highlighted by record-breaking and conference-leading performances.
Leading the way, Valerie Ashamu etched her name into both program and conference history, placing seventh in the high jump with a 1.72m mark. The performance not only set a new DSU school record, but also secured the top mark in the MEAC and placed her among the top 25 in the NCAA East Region.
On the track, Merasia Johnson also made her mark in the 800m, posting a time of 2:14.97 to move into fourth place in Delaware State history, while Sanaa Virgil added a solid showing in the triple jump with an 11th-place finish and a mark of 11.83m.
In the hurdles, Miriam Okwudibonye recorded a time of 1:01.39 in the 400m hurdles to place 22nd overall, rounding out a competitive weekend for the Hornets.
