MEAC Announces Weekly Women’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 18, 2026-- Norfolk State junior Sonia Koech was selected as Women's Track Athlete of the Week while North Carolina Central freshman Rachel Key-White earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.     
 
Koech (Jr., Kericho, Kenya) finished second in the mile with a time of 5:17.63, ranking third in the MEAC this season, and helped the DMR relay team secure a runner-up finish in 12:50.23. 

Key-White (Fr., Wilson, N.C.) won the women’s high jump at the Pre-National Indoor Meet with a clearance of 1.72 meters. 

Other Top Performers 
  • Aleah Alexander (MSU) tied for second in the high jump open at the Darius Dixon Meet, clearing 1.59 meters. 
  • Gifty Oku (CSU) placed fourth in the 60 meters at the Indoor Pre-Nationals with a time of 7.52. 
  • Jatavia Robinson (MSU) advanced to the 60m semifinals at the Darius Dixon Meet, setting a season-best of 7.55. 
  • Melanne Sutton (NCCU) finished second in the 60m dash at the Pre-National Indoor Meet in 7.46, currently ranking fourth in the MEAC this season. 
  • Emma Svetiev (NSU) earned second place in the pole vault, clearing 3.18 meters.
