MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 18, 2026— Coppin State senior Carl Drakes was selected as Men's Track Athlete of the Week while morgan State freshman Jeryco Sheppard earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.       

Drakes (Sr., Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia) placed second in the 60 meters with a time of 6.74 and seventh in the 200 meters at 21.58 at the Indoor Pre-Nationals, with his 60m time ranking third in the conference this season. 
 
Sheppard (Fr., Dundalk, Md.) delivered a career-best 4.51m clearance in the pole vault to finish runner-up at the Darius Dixon Meet, a mark that currently ranks second in the MEAC. 

Other Top Performers 
  • Alexander Dobson Honablue (CSU) placed fifth in the triple jump at the Indoor Pre-Nationals with a leap of 14.53 meters. 
  • Emmanuel Paddyfote (NCCU) ran a personal record 4:15.89 to finish second in the mile. 
  • Doyin Smith (MSU) earned third place in the 200 meters with a time of 21.85 and improved to 6.89 in the 60m semifinals, finishing 10th overall. 
  • Landon Walker (NSU) finished second in the pole vault at the Indoor Pre-Nationals, clearing 4.50 meters. 
  • Kendrick Winfield (NSU) placed fourth in the 200 meters (21.49) and 12th in the 400 meters (48.98), showing versatility across sprint events.
