LOUISVILLE, Ky. & PHILADELPHIA (January 10, 2026) – Howard University track & field program returned from the winter break competing in the Rod McCravy Invitational (Jan. 9-10), hosted by the University of Kentucky, and the Penn Select (Jan. 10), hosted by the Quakers.
 
ROD MCCRAVY INVITATIONAL
 
On the men's side, sophomore Drew Dillard (Silver Spring, Md.) and senior Jorim Bangue (Yaoundé, Cameroon) took second (7.91) and third (8.02), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. Dillard also competed in the field, placing second overall (2.05 meters) in the high jump.
 
Senior Dylan Gaines (Houston) recorded a 33.62 mark in the 300-meter dash.
 
For the women, senior Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.) earned bronze in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 24.16.
 
In the field, fellow classmate Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) landed 12^th in the triple jump (11.76 meters).
 
PENN SELECT
 
Rookie Mmekom Inyang (Richmond Hill, Ga.) led the charge in Philly, winning the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.52 mark. The Georgia native also took part in the field, placing seventh overall in the shot put (12.97 meters).
 
Fellow freshman Sadie Sanders (Santa Rosa, Calif.) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash, producing a 57.48 time.
 
In the field, second-year Bison Jasmen Walker (Flossmoor, Ill.) earned eighth place in the triple jump (11.48 meters).
 
For the men's side, sophomores Solomon Young (Charlotte, N.C.) and Tarike Lavine (Bridgetown, Barbados) finished sixth (14.61 meters) and seventh (14.40 meters), respectively, in the weight throw.
 
On the track, sophomore runner William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) took eighth place in the 800-meter run with a 1:55.22 time.
