JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 30, 2025)
 — On the third day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Region First Round, Morgan State's Dante Jackson saw the end of his journey in the 400-meter dash. Jackson competed on a crucial Friday afternoon at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium, located on the University of North Florida's campus, but his performance ultimately fell short of securing a qualifying spot for the final.

The junior's performance in the quarterfinal round was disappointing, effectively ending his aspirations for a national championship appearance. His 400-meter time of 47.87 seconds, a far cry from the personal best 46.30 he clocked just two nights prior. This last-place finish, translating to a 24th overall ranking in the East region, dashed any hopes of advancing further in the competition. The coveted tickets to Hayward Field, the hallowed grounds of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, would remain out of reach this year.

While dreams of Eugene faded, Samuel Ogazi of Alabama dominated the 400-meter field with a blazing time of 44.43, a testament to the fierce competition at this level.

While Jackson's aspirations were cut short, the experience undoubtedly provided valuable lessons and fueled the fire for future competitions. He will now look ahead, using this as motivation to refine his technique and strategy.
