NORFOLK, Va., May 17, 2025 – For the fourth straight season, the Howard University Bison were crowned champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Howard delivered a record-breaking performance, scoring a meet-high 292 points, 103 points ahead of runner-up Norfolk State University. Morgan State finished third with 74 points.
RESULTS
Howard Head Coach David Oliver was named Outstanding Coach of the Meet, while Mercyline Kimaiyo of Norfolk State earned her third consecutive Outstanding Runner of the Meet award. Teammate Leslie Young secured her fourth straight Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet honor.
The Bison dominated across all disciplines, collecting 14 gold medals and making 28 total podium appearances, including three podium sweeps.
The final day of competition began at 10 a.m. with the women's pole vault and javelin throw. Norfolk State's D'Nysha Brightful took gold in the pole vault, clearing 3.50 meters, while Areyanna Scott of South Carolina State won the javelin with a throw of 42.20 meters.
Howard's first podium sweep of the day came in the women's triple jump, where Kelis Armstrong claimed gold with a leap of 12.76 meters, followed by Jazmyn Wajd (12.66m) and Ija Mumford (12.49m).
In the 4x100m relay, the quartet of Ai'yana Gray-Williams, Marcia Sey, Kailei Collins, and Tiffani Rae Pittman clocked a winning time of 44.45 seconds.
Camille Egbula added a gold medal in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.56, while Marcia Sey earned another for Howard in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 12.84 seconds.
The Bison claimed a 1-2 finish in the 400m dash, with Kiya Lawson (53.75) and Zoe Turner (54.58) leading the field.
Howard's second podium sweep came in the 100m dash, as Kailei Collins captured gold (11.28), followed by Sey (11.40) and Gray-Williams (11.57).
Egbula collected her second individual title of the day in the 800m, crossing the line in 2:06.96.
The Bison completed their third podium sweep in the 400m hurdles, with Arianna Smith (56.11), Aniya Woodruff (57.24), and Cenaiya Billups (58.54) taking the top three spots.
Lawson earned her second gold medal of the day with a 22.87-second finish in the 200m dash, edging out Collins (23.09).
In the 5000m, Joslyn Crosby used a strong final kick to win the race in 19:04.04.
Howard closed out the meet with a dominant performance in the 4x400m relay, posting a winning time of 3:36.20—six seconds ahead of the next closest team.
