MEAC Announces Weekly Women’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 23, 2025 — South Carolina State senior Angelica Frederick and Coppin State senior Halutie Hor were named Women's Co-Track Athletes of the Week, while Howard graduate student Erin Hatcher earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.     
  
Fredrick (Sr., Columbia, SC.) delivered a dominant performance at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic, winning the 100m dash with a time of 12.05, 200m dash clocking in at 24.68, and anchoring first-place finishes in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays with a time of 46.60 and 3:47.98 respectively.  
 
Hor (RSr., Kumasi, Ghana) recorded three first place finishes at the Morgan State Legacy Meet. She won the 100m dash with a time of 11.82 and the 200m dash coming in at 24.29, recording her second-fastest times of the season in both races. She also anchored Coppin State’s 4x100m relay team, which finished first with a time of 45.75.  
  
Hatcher (Gr., Silver Spring, Md.) won the hammer throw at the Tom Jones Invite with a conference-record toss of 62.41m, ranking 35th nationally.  
  
Other Top Performers    
  • Sa’Niya Fowler (NCCU) captured first place in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.17m setting a personal record while placing fourth in the discus throwing 42.76m at the N.C. A&T State Aggie Invitational.  
  • Laila Jackson (NCCU) earned two top five finishes at the Aggie Invitational placing second in the women’s 800m (2:10.44) and fifth in the 4x400m relay (3:50.51).  
  • Tia Jackson (MSU) won the long jump at the MSU Legacy Meet with a leap of 6.00m.  
  • Jessica Lamborn (MSU) set a personal record of 2:14.18 to win the 800m race at the MSU Legacy Meet.  
  • Leanna Lewis (NSU) recorded a personal best of 2:07.03 in the 800m race to place third at the UVA Challenge and contributed to a sixth-place finish in the 4x400m relay.  
  • Essence Shaw (NSU) achieved a personal best of 1.64m in the high jump at the UVA Challenge, finishing fifth in the event.  
  • Kennedy Spears (SCSU) finished second in the high jump at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic with a jump of 1.60m.  
  • Ansolei Taliaferro (DSU) finished second in the 400m hurdles at the Morgan State Legacy Meet, posting a personal best of 1:04.22.  
  • Sanaa Virgil (DSU) earned second place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.93m and third in the long jump jumping 5.72m, marking the second- and fifth-best jumps in DSU history at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.  
  • Aniya Woodruff (HU) placed eighth in the 400m hurdles at the Tom Jones Invite, clocking a MEAC-best time of 56.57, which ranks 15th nationally.
