NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 23, 2025 — Norfolk State senior Kendrick Winfield was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while
South Carolina State junior Michael Hopkins earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Winfield (Sr., Louisville, Ky.) placed second at the UVA Challenge in the 200m dash with a time of 20.85 while also claiming fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 46.58.
Hopkins (Jr., Tampa, Fl.) won the pole vault at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic with a mark of 4.90m, setting a new meet record. His performance keeps him atop the MEAC rankings in the event.
Other Top Performers
- Marian Drazan (DSU) set a Delaware State school record in the 1500m race with a winning time of 3:54.14 at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
- Kyle Fisher (HU) finished third in the long jump at the Tom Jones Invite with a leap of 7.53 meters, the best mark in the MEAC this season.
- Jarrett Gentles (CSU) competed in three events at the Morgan State Legacy Meet, placing 6th in the 200 meters with a time of 21.35. He won the 400m hurdles in 51.10 and contributed to a 3:11.86 finish in the 4x400m relay.
- Alexander Hollimon (SCSU) placed first in the 110m hurdles at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic, clocking a time of 14.49 seconds.
- Noah Langford (HU) placed 13th in the 400m hurdles at the Tom Jones Invite, posting a time of 50.99, which currently ranks 41st in the nation.
- Delano Lawrence (UMES) continued his dominance in the discus with a new personal best throw of 54.24m for his third win of the outdoor season.
- Ja’Mari Manson (DSU) secured first place in the high jump with a clearance of 2.00 meters at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
- Emmanuel Paddyfote (NCCU) achieved a personal best of 3:55.09 to win the 1500m race at the Aggie Invitational.
- Jonathan Raijon-Koger (NCCU) won the high jump at the Aggie Invitational by clearing 2.05m and also competed in the long jump, finishing 18th (6.55m).
- Chazden Wilson (NSU) finished sixth in the high jump at the UVA Challenge with a mark of 1.96m.
