NORFOLK, Va., Apr. 2, 2025 — Maryland Eastern Shore's Alyssa Dyett was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Howard’s Erin Hatcher earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Dyett (So., St. John, Antigua) won the 100m dash at the ECU Bill Carson Invitational with a time of 11.51, ranking 19th nationally and first among all HBCU sprinters. She also finished seventh in the 200m dash with a 24.69 time.
Hatcher (Gr., Silver Spring, Md.) finished ninth overall in the hammer throw at the Texas Relays, breaking the MEAC conference record and Howard school record with a mark of 59.71m (195’11”), which ranks 39th nationally.
Other Top Performers
- Halutie Hor (CSU) competed in four events at the Raleigh Relays, placing second in the 4x100m relay and achieving a top-six MEAC ranking in the 200m and 4x100m relay.
- Miriam Okwudibonye (DSU) finished fifth in the 400m hurdles at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 59.74.
- Aniyah Smith (DSU) placed first in the women’s javelin throw with a 38.41m mark at the Towson Invitational.
- Marcia Sey (HU) won the 100m hurdles at the Texas Relay, clocking in at a MEAC-best 12.76 time, which ranks second in the nation.
- Leanna Lewis (NSU) won both the 800m race (2:10.44) and 1500m race (4:40.49) at the Bill Carson Invitational against a five-team field.
- Brooklyn Robinson (NSU) placed second in all three events she competed in at the Bill Carson Invitational. She registered a jump of 5.51 meters in the long jump, a time of 13.12 in the 100m hurdles, and a 11.69 time in the 100m dash.
- Tia Lucas (NCCU) achieved a personal best of 1.70m in the high jump, placing sixth at the Raleigh Relays.
- Melanne Sutton (NCCU) competed in three different events, including a new personal best of 23.95 in the women’s 200m dash (14th) at the Raleigh Relays. Sutton finished ninth in the women’s 100m dash with a time of 11.65 seconds while also running in the 4x400m relay (3:48.14).
- TyQwasia Williams (SCSU) placed second in the 110m hurdles at the Morehouse Relays with a time of 14.52, after running a 14.42 time in prelims.
- Areyanna Scott (SCSU) won the women’s javelin throw at the Morehouse Relays with a mark of 40.36 meters, maintaining her position as the conference leader in the event.
