MEAC Announces Weekly Women’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Mar. 26, 2025 — Howard Graduate student Marcia Sey was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Morgan State freshman Keira Stewart earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.   

Sey (Gr., London, U.K.) earned first place in the 100-meter hurdles at the USF Alumni Invite, clocking in at a MEAC-best 13.11, ranking third in the nation. 

Stewart (Fr., East Hartford, Conn.) set a personal best in the long jump at the Charlotte 49er Classic with a mark of 6.02 meters, securing first place in the event. 

Other Top Performers    

  • Benedicta Kwartemaa (CSU) finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.75 seconds and also ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that took first place with a time of 45.31 seconds.  

  • Jazmyn Wajd (HU) placed third overall in the triple jump at the USF Alumni Invite, leaping a MEAC-best 12.51 meters, which ranks 23rd in the country. 

  • Leanna Lewis (NSU) secured a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.19. She also contributed to the 4x400 meter relay team, which placed ninth with a time of 3:34.04 at the South Florida Alumni Invitational.  

  • Leslie Young (NSU) competed in both the discus throw with a throw of 42.56 meters and hammer throw 50.95 meters at the South Florida Alumni Invite. Young finished 17th in the discus and 18th in the hammer throw. 

  • Lyee Simms (UMES) claimed first place in the high jump at the Weems Baskin Invitational with a personal-best clearance of 1.66 meters. 

  • Tyqwasia Williams (SCSU) clinched first place in the 400 meters at the Weems Baskin Invitational with a time of 56.89 seconds. 

  • Kennedy Spears (SCSU) placed second in the high jump at the Weems Baskin Invitational clearing a height of 1.66 meters.
