Howard's Women Claim Fourth Consecutive Indoor Track & Field Title at the 2025 MEAC Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 24, 2025 – Howard University claimed its fourth consecutive MEAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Title on Monday evening at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. 

The Bison set a new championship record with a total of 256 team points to secure the 2025 title. Norfolk State finished second with 135 points, and North Carolina Central came in third with 60 points. 

Bison head coach David Oliver was named the meet's Outstanding Coach. 

In the sprints, Howard's Kailei Collins delivered a stellar performance, winning both the women's 60-meter dash (7.34) and the 200-meter dash (23.61). Teammate Marcia Sey claimed the title in the women's 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.17 seconds, while Kiya Lawson added another victory for Howard in the women's 400-meter dash (54.65). Joslyn Crosby also secured gold in both the women's mile run (5:05.69) and the 5000-meter run (18:14.00) adding to her gold medal count after winning the women's 3,000-meter race on day one. 

Norfolk State's Leanna Lewis won the women's 800-meter run in 2:11.59. In the field events, Faithlyn Irving of Maryland Eastern Shore captured gold in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.52m, while Delaware State's Valarie Ashaumu took the women's high jump title with a height of 1.69m. Norfolk State's D'Nysha Brightful won the women's pole vault with a vault of 3.10m, and Howard's Kendra Ezeama dominated the women's shot put with a throw of 14.15m. 

The meet concluded with an exciting relay finish, as Howard clinched the Women's 4x400 meter relay title with a time of 3:40.78. 
Joslyn Crosby was named the 2025 MEAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Outstanding Runner of the Meet after scoring 30 individual points. Tia Jackson (Morgan State) and Temi Banwo (Howard) were named the 2025 MEAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Co-Outstanding Field Athletes of the Meet after each scoring 16 points. 

The top three finishers in each event were named All-MEAC.
