NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 12, 2025—North Carolina Central sophomore Melanne Sutton was selected as Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Howard’s Temi Banwo earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Sutton (So., Greenville, N.C.) competed across three events for the Eagles at the Liberty Open. Sutton finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.47, while finishing fifth in the 60m dash (7.58). She set a personal best (7.47) in the 60m prelims. Additionally, she ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay helping her team to a fourth-place result finishing in 3:53.81.
Banwo (Jr., Allen, Texas.) claimed a fourth-place finish in women’s shot put at the 2025 Penn Classic with a 14.19-meter throw, which ranks second in the league.

- Halutie Hor (CSU) competed in the 60m dash in 7.58 seconds, the 200m with a time of 24.85, and 4x400 clocking in at 3:55.09 across two meets, placing 8th , 16th, and 12th, respectively.
- Sierra Passee (DSU) finished second in both the 60m dash and 60m hurdles at the Fastrack National Invitational.
- Mariah Winfield (DSU) won the long jump at the Frank Colden Invitational with a leap of 5.73m, ranking fourth in the MEAC and second in DSU school history.
- Tiffany Mugubi (HU) finished third in the 800m at the Penn Classic with a MEAC-best time of 2:12.17.
- Tia Jackson (MSU) collected an 11th place result in the high jump (1.65m) while finishing first in the long jump with a mark of 5.87m at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup.
- Tia Lucas (NCCU) placed second in the high jump at the Liberty Open with a clearance of 1.62m.
- Allysia Farrar (NSU) competed in the 60m dash clocking a 7.72 time and the 200m with a time of 24.61 at the East Coast Invitational, recording a personal best 7.63 in 60m prelims.
- Leslie Young (NSU) threw 12.76 meters in the shot-put and 16.98 meters in the weight throw at the East Coast Invitational.
