MEAC Announces Weekly Women’s Track & Field Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 15, 2025-- Howard graduate student Marcia Sey was selected as Women's Track Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Norfolk State senior Leslie Young earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors. 
 
Sey (Gr., London, U.K.) finished third overall in the 60-meter hurdles at the Rod McCravy Invite, clocking a MEAC-leading time of 8.21 seconds, which ranks seventh nationally. 
 
Young (Sr., Portsmouth, Va.) earned second place in the weight throw with a mark of 16.55 meters and third place in the shot put with a throw of 12.68 meters at the VCU Rams Indoor Invite. 
 
Other Top Performers   

  • Halutie Hor (CSU) finished third in the 60m dash with a time of 7.59 and fifth in the 200m race with a time of 24.79 at the Gamecock Opener 

  • Kelis Armstrong (HU) earned fifth place in the triple jump at the Rod McCravy Invite leaping 12.33 meters, which ranks second in the MEAC and 34th nationally.  

  • Brooklyn Robinson (NSU) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.53 at the VCU Rams Indoor Invite. 
  • Kennedy Spears (SCSU) finished third in the high jump with a leap of 1.65 meters setting a new personal record at the USC opener.
