Coppin State’s Hor, La Fortune Finish in Top Five in Multiple Events at South Carolina Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The duo of Halutie Hor and Kyah La Fortune led the Coppin State women’s track & field team at the Carolina Challenge over weekend. Hor took third in the 60m and fifth in the 200m, with La Fortune taking second in the 400m.

A senior from Kumasi, Ghana, Hor bettered her 60m time in each run before closing with a 7.59 in the finals to finish behind runners from South Carolina and Miami.  Hor now ranks fifth in the MEAC in the event.  Hor also clocked a 24.79 in the 200m with Gifty Oku running a 25.60.

La Fortune made her collegiate debut in the 400m and blazed through the line in 57.33.

Raniya Perry also threw the shot put 9.60m (31’ 6”).

Coppin returns to the track on Saturday, January 18 for the KPMG HBCU Showcase, held at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.
