The East Regional Outdoor Track and Field Quarterfinals Concluded with Multiple MEAC Athletes Competing and Advancing to the NCAA National Championship

LEXINGTON, Ky., May 25, 2024 — The East Regional Outdoor Track and Field Quarterfinals wrapped up on day four, with multiple MEAC athletes competing and advancing to the NCAA National Championship meet in Eugene Oregon.  

Howard women’s 4x100m relay team of Ai’yana Gray-Williams, Mackenzie Robinson, Kailei Collins, and Sherri-Ann Norton stacked up a third-place finish in heat one, resulting in a top ten finish to automatically advance to NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon, clocking a time of 44.26 seconds to set a Howard school record.   

Fellow Bison, Simone Watkins, qualified for the NCAA Championship Meet placing second overall with a new personal record of 55.92 in the women’s 400m hurdles.   

Cameran Gist from South Carolina State and Joidon Boddie from North Carolina Central represented the MEAC in the women’s triple jump quarterfinals. Gist placed top 25 with a 12.63m leap, while Boddie jumped a 12.39m distance.   

Howard’s Kailei Collins ran in both the women's 100m and 200m dash events.  She set a personal best time of 11.35 in the 100m dash and clocked a 23.29 time in the 200m dash shortly after. 

The 2024 NCAA outdoor track and field championships are from Wednesday, June 5 through Saturday, June 8. Both the men's and women's championships are held simultaneously.
