NORFOLK, Va., April 5, 2024 — Howard graduate Samuel Bennett and Norfolk State junior Gidion Sigei were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Co-Athlete’s of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Howard junior Kyle Fisher was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Howard graduate Kailei Collins was selected as the MEAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Coppin State junior Woizero Richards was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Bennett (Gr., Alexandria, Va.) finished as runner-up in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2024 Texas Relays moving into second all-time in the MEAC record book, clocking a time of 13.39 seconds. He ranks third in the country and second all-time in school history.
Sigei (Jr., Kericho, Kenya) broke his own MEAC record in the men’s 10,000-m run, clocking a time of 29:21.91 at the Raleigh Relays. He knocked 12.50 seconds off his previous MEAC record of 29:34.41set last season at the 2023 Raleigh Relays.
Fisher (Jr., Duluth, Ga.) led the way for the Bison in the triple jump at the Texas Relays. He finished third in the finals. He leaped 15.40-meters (50’6.25”), which ranks him 16th in the nation.
Collins (Jr., Germantown, Md.) ran a MEAC season-best time of 11.23 during the women's 100-meter dash prelims at the Texas Relays, ranking 12th in the nation. In the final round, she placed sixth overall with a 11.42 time. Collins' time of 11.23 seconds set a new school record in the 100-meter dash.
Richards (Jr., Kingston, Jamacia) took second place in the women's long jump at Towson Invitational, with a 5.47-meter leap (17’11.5).

Adrian Holley (Morgan State) placed first in the men’s 100-meter dash for the second consecutive week, clocking a 10:26 time. He also placed second in the men’s 200-meter with a time of 22.01.
