Thompson Earns Top Finish for the Spartans at Sharon Colyer-Danville Season Opener

BOSTON, Mass – Three Norfolk State women's track and field student-athletes competed at the Sharon Colyer-Danville Season Opener on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Emani Thompson earned the top finish for the Spartans, clocking a time of 2:19.25 to place 23rd in the 800 meters. She also took 39th place with a personal best time of 5:09.30 in the mile.
 
Sophomore Leanna Lewis also competed in the mile, finishing in 38th place (5:09.11).
 
Mercyline Kimaiyo capped off the day by competing in the 5,000 meters (17:30.34).
 
Norfolk State will return to action after the new year, beginning with the Hokie Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Blacksburg, Va.
