STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2024) -- The Morgan State men's track and field teams kicked off their 2024-25 indoor season by earning eight top-10 finishes at the FastTrack Season Opener held Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
The Bears showcased their prowess in the 60m hurdles, with standout performances from junior Jadon Ra-Akbar and freshman Timothy Rich. Ra-Akbar led the charge, securing a commendable third place with an impressive time of 8.14 seconds. Following closely behind, Rich also made his mark on the event, finishing in sixth place with a respectable time of 8.52 seconds.
Ra-Akbar also added a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 7.02 meters.
Junior Dante Jackson claimed ninth place in the 200m dash with a time of 22.25.
Freshman Caleb Mincey turned in an impressive performance in the 3000m with a time of 8:59.02.
Morgan's 4x400m relay team raced to a second place finish with a time of 3:21.56, just 1.21 seconds short of surpassing Rowan, who claimed victory with a time of 3:20.35.
Freshman KeSean-Jordan Rhooms made a significant contribution in the field events, showcasing his versatility in both the triple jump and high jump competitions. With a leap of 13.98 meters, Rhooms secured a 5th place finish in the triple jump. He also cleared a height of 1.89 meters in the high jump. The effort earned him a tie for 10th place in the field.
Freshman Demond Smith took 8th place in the weight throw with a toss of 13.43 meters. He also had a throw of 11.75 meters in the shot put (20th place).
