MEAC Track & Field at NCAA East: May 25

Three Bison Advance at NCAA East First Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 
Howard University women's track saw three Bison advance to the NCAA East Regional quarterfinal round Thursday evening, moving one step closer to Austin, Texas.
 
Overall, five Bison competed on the night, led by junior hurdler Darci Khan. The Georgia native won her heat with a new school record (12.92); thus, moving on to Saturday's quarterfinal round.
 
Fellow classmate Kaya-Rae Dunbar also competed and advanced to the next round after running a time of 13.24.
 
All-American senior Jessica Wright represented Howard in the 400-meter hurdles, where she earned a spot in the quarterfinal round with an AQ mark of 58.25.

Coppin State's Ali Advances to Women's 400 Qauerfinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 
Coppin State's Latifa Ali advanced to Saturday's quarterfinals of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminaries in the 400-meter dash with her performance on Thursday night, hosted by University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium.
 
A junior from Kumasi, Ghana, Ali clocked a 53.52 to finish fifth in her heat to qualify for the next round. Ali won the MEAC championship with a season-best time of 52.99 after running 53.72 in the prelims. She owns a personal record outdoors of 52.78.

Delaware State's Glenn Advances in Women's 100-Meter Hurdles Quarterfinal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 
Delaware State junior hurdler Catherine Glenn has advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal round of the 100-meter hurdles of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East First Round.
 
In the first round, Glenn clocked a season-best time of 13.30 seconds which was the fourth-fastest time of her heat and the 23rd-fastest time overall to secure a lane on Saturday's night.

Morgan State's Jackson Finishes 18th in Women's Long Jump

JACKSONVILLE, Va. -- 
Needing to finish in the top 12 in order to advance to the NCAA Championship, Tia Jackson would conclude her season finishing 18th overall out of 48 competitors with a leap of 6.06 meters (19-feet 10.75 inches) in the women's long jump at the NCAA East First Round.
 
The Bristol, United Kingdom native was the last to jump (24th) out of the first two flight groups and recorded her mark of 6.06 meters, which moved her to sixth after the first set of jumps were completed.
