Delaware State's Chisholm Advances to 110 Hurdles Quarterfinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 
Delaware State senior hurdler Tayshaun Chisholm has punched his ticket to the quarterfinal round of the men's 110-meter hurdles in the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track &Field East First Round on Wednesday.
 
Chisholm clocked a season-best 13.47 seconds, which was the top time in his heat and the fourth-fastest time overall, to secure his lane in Friday's quarterfinal round.

Coppin State's Hammond Competes in Long Jump

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 
Coppin State's Jeff Hammond leaped 7.07 meters (23 feet, 2.5 inches) in the long jump at the NCAA East Preliminaries, hosted by University of North Florida on Wednesday night at Hodges Stadium.
 
A junior from Kumasi, Ghana, Hammond finished 42nd overall in the event with his second effort being his best attempt.

Howard Sees Five Compete in NCAA East Day One

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 
Howard University men's track had five Bison compete on the first day of the NCAA East Regional, but was unable to get anyone through to the next round.
 
Four Bison represented Howard in the men's 110-meter hurdles, led by graduate Dylan Beard. Entering with the nation's second-fastest mark (13.29), the Baltimore native fell short with a 14.04 time during prelims.
 
Senior Jermanie Byrd had the best outing on Day One, producing 13.78, which fell just one-hundredths (0.01) of a second in making the cut.
