Howard's Khan Wins Gold at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Howard University junior Darci Khan wrapped up the weekend for the track & field program with a bang, winning the college women's 100-meter hurdles title at the prestigious Penn Relays.
The Georgia native clocked in at 13.18, edging out North Carolina A&T State's Paula Salmon (13.32) and Texas A&M's Jaiya Covington (13.38).
Fellow classmate Kaya-Rae Dunbar also competed in the event, taking fifth overall with a 13.76 mark.

Jackson, Shell Place First at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Morgan State junior Tia Jackson and sophomore Inara Shell took their talents North to the University of Pennsylvania to compete in the 127th running of the three-day Penn Relay Carnival, presented by Toyota at historic Franklin Field.
Jackson and Shell would both leave as individual champions over the weekend. Jackson had a leap of 6.11 meters (20-0.5) to win the long jump. It was her fifth consecutive victory in the long jump this season. Shell claimed the triple jump – college section title with a personal-best jump of 12.37 meters (40-7).
Jackson would also join teammates Deborah Adekayode, Aleisha Robinson and Makenzie Harris in the 4X100 meter relay to run a time of 46.78 to place sixth.

N.C. Central Wins Four Events at App State Open
BOONE, N.C. -- North Carolina Central's outdoor track & field teams combined for four event victories during the App State Open in Boone on Saturday.
NCCU sophomore Brenden Finger won the men's high jump for the second straight meet, clearing 1.93 meters, up from 1.88 a week ago.
Senior Donnell Carter captured his second triumph of the outdoor season by running a time of 47.13 seconds in the men's 400-meter dash.

Norfolk State Excels at Soggy Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Norfolk State men's track & field team braved the rain all weekend at the Penn Relays, notching several high finishes in the damp conditions at Franklin Field.
Gidion Sigei and Victor Jumo got the Spartans started on Thursday evening, competing in the men's college 5,000 meters. Sigei took 24th by completing the event in 14 minutes, 11.64 seconds, a new personal record. Jumo finished in 14:53.76, his third-best time of the season.
The Spartans competed in multiple events on Friday, headlined by Joshua Sutton earning sixth in the men's college high jump, clearing a height of six feet, 5.5 inches. It was the junior's best mark in the event since the Raleigh Relays in March.

Coppin State Battles Rainy Conditions at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Coppin State's track & field teams battled wild and rainy conditions at the Penn Relays over the weekend and were led by a third-place finish by the women's 4x200-meter relay.
The quartet of Gifty Oku, Latifa Ali, Halutie Hor and Kimani Alphonse won their heat of the 4x200-meter relay in 1:38.17, placing just behind teams from South Florida and Auburn. Those four also ran in the 4x100-meter relay that took 13th in 46.27.
Ali and Hor competed on the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay that finished 18th in 3:55.93 along with Shenelle Tomlinson and Destinee McLeod. In the sprint medley relay, Coppin took 10th in 4:08.13 with Oku, Tomlinson, McLeod and Jahmei Wyatt in the mix.

Hornets' Chisholm, Relay Teams Shine at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Delaware State senior hurdler Tayshaun Chisholm, the men's 4x100-meter relay team and the men's 4x200-meter relay team all earned top finishes on in their respective championship events of the 2023 Penn Relays hosted by University of Pennsylvania.
Chisholm clocked a season-best time of 13.75 seconds in the college men's 110-meter hurdles championship race to finish second place overall.
The team of Andre Carr, Jr., Jaden Shelton, Rahkeem Smith and Jalen Booth-Mitchell turned in a time of 40.94 seconds to claim fourth place in the college men's 4x100.

S.C. State's Ratliff, rembert-Jett Lead Strong Effort at North Florida
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Seniors Dexter Ratliff and Waddell Rembert-Jett, and the men's 4x100-meter relay team led a strong outing for the South Carolina State track teams at the University of North Florida East Coast Relays. Over 60 colleges and universities made up the field
Overall, SCSU combined for 14 personal records and seven season-best performances for head coach Donald Cooper.
Ratliff had a toss of 49.17 meters (161-4 ft.) in the discus to take over first place in the MEAC, Rembert-Jett set a personal record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.22 to take the top spot in the event in the league, and the men's 4x100-meter relay team (Jalen Alleyne, Rembert-Jett, Erick Hill and Kristopher Brown) completed the course in a season-best time of 40.44 to climb to third in the MEAC.
