Howard Breaks a Pair of Records at Texas Relays
AUSTIN, Texas -- Howard University track & field competed in the 95
th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this past weekend, held at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Junior Darci Khan and senior Jessica Wright led the way with record-setting performances. Khan took part in the 100-meter hurdle final, where she placed fourth overall with a new school benchmark (12.96). For Wright, the All-American finished runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.98 (school record).
Wright, sophomore Tiffani-Rae Pittman and freshmen Kiya Lawson and Aniya Woodruff represented Howard in the 4x400 relay, earning second place overall with a 3:31.24 mark.

N.C. Central's Boddie Sets Career Best at VertKlasse
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- North Carolina Central junior Joidon Boddie achieved a career-best mark of 12.83 meters to win the women's triple jump at the VertKlasse Meeting, hosted by High Point University on Friday and Saturday.
NCCU senior Donnell Carter ran to victory in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47.66 seconds.
Other top performers for NCCU were Matthew Swepson placing sixth in the men's javelin with a throw of 54.06 meters, Tia Lucas finishing seventh in the women's high jump at a height of 1.63 meters, Micah Fulton earning eighth place in the women's triple jump with a measurement of 12.13 meters, and Victoria Swepson tallying eighth place in the women's 800 meters at 2:17.09.

Spartans' Cole Dominates at Virginia Quadrangular
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Kai Cole headlined the podium of three different events on Saturday, leading the Spartans in a successful day at the Virginia Quadrangular.
Hosted by the University of Virginia, the showcase featured four talented programs: Norfolk State, Virginia, Saint Francis and Liberty.
Cole crossed the finish line ahead of his competitors in the 100 meters and 200 meters with times of 10.32 and 20.93, respectively. He also helped the Spartans' 4x100-meter relay squad (Cole, Anthony Frankin, Bryan Madison-Ahouman and Dwight Henry) take first in 41.72.

Coppin State Has Strong Weekend at Towson
TOWSON, Md. -- Solomon Hammond won both the 100- and 200-meter dash, while Carl Drakes and James Bell also won individual events as the Coppin State men's track & field team competed at the Towson Spring Open this weekend at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Battling tough winds and a wet surface over the two-day meet, Hammond clocked a 10.51 in the 100 meters and a 21.72 in the 200 meters to take both events. His time in the 100 is the seventh-fastest in school history and the second-fastest in the MEAC this season.
On the women's side, the quartet of Gifty Oku, Destinee McLoud, Brianna Benton and Jahmel Wyatt
took first in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:49.13.

Hornets Pick Up Four Titles at Towson
TOWSON, Md. -- The Delaware State men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Towson Spring Open hosted by Towson University over the weekend. The Hornets claimed four individual event wins and numerous top-eight finishes at this invitational.
Delaware State opened up the two-day invitational with two of those individual event winning performances coming from Peter Kamanu and Christopher Johnson.
Kamanu, the MEAC-leading pole vaulter recorded a season-best height topping out at 4.61 meters. Johnson put himself in first place in the league in the men's shot put after launching a distance of 15.78 meters.

Morgan State Strong at Towson
TOWSON, Md. -- The Morgan State track & field teams competed at the 2023 Towson Spring Opener this weekend hosted by Towson University. The meet began Friday and concluded Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bears would produce 15 top-10 finishes, including two gold medal winners. Tia Jackson would capture gold in the long jump with a leap of 6.10 meters, while Johnell Johnson won gold in the discus throw with a throw of 47.29 meters.
The men's team added nine top-5s over the weekend.

UMES Records Three Podiums at Towson
TOWSON, Md. -- Maryland Eastern Shore track & field grabbed some valuable experience, as well as a few podiums at the Towson Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Three Hawk women's track & field student-athletes return to Princess Anne with the top result in their respective events, while on the men's side several were able to grab season's bests.
Both women's 400 meters, the hurdle and sprint, were all about the Hawks during the meet.
Junior Chloe Lucas took home first in the 400 meters with a time of 55.61, nearly a full two seconds better than the second-place finisher. The finish was a personal record, while also setting a PR in the 200 meters during the event.
