NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 15, 2023—Howard University senior Jermanie Byrd was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola and Howard University junior Darci Khan was selected as Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today. Norfolk State junior Isaac Haywood was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Howard University graduate student Mikyla Rodgers earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Byrd (Sr., Miami, Fla.) ranks 49th in the nation in the men’s 60-meter hurdles after winning the event this past weekend at the Windy City Invitational, setting a new program record with a 7.84.
Khan (Jr., Stockbridge, Ga.) won the women’s 60-meter hurdles at the Windy City Invitational, breaking the program record with an 8.15 – the best time in the MEAC and the 20th-fastest time in the nation so far this season.
Haywood (Jr., Louisa, Va.) set the MEAC’s best mark in the men’s triple jump this season, leaping a personal-best 15.40 meters (50 feet, 6.25 inches) to take gold at the D-II Pre-National.
Rodgers (Gr., South Huntington, N.Y.) posted the MEAC’s best mark in the women’s weight throw at the Windy City Invitational, tossing a distance of 19.12 meters (62 feet, 8.75 inches) to come in eighth overall.

James Bell (Coppin State) cleared 2.06 meters to win the men’s high jump at the Fastrack National.
Oku Gifty (Coppin State) won the women’s 200 meters at the Fastrack National, running a 24.87, while turning in a 7.69 to finish second in the 60 meters.
Noxroy Wright (Coppin State) won the men’s 60 meters with a facility-record 6.72 at the Fastrack National.
Morey Campbell (Delaware State) was fifth in the men’s high jump at the Fastrack National, clearing 1.96 meters.
Tayshaun Chisholm (Delaware State) ran a 7.85 in the men’s 60-meter hurdles to win the event at the Fastrack National.
Amber Pelle (Delaware State) was second in the women’s weight throw at the Fastrack National with a distance of 16.42 meters.
Khaliyah White (Delaware State) ran a 25.21 to finish second in the women’s 200 meters at the Fastrack National.
Caleb Goslee (Maryland Eastern Shore) was fourth in the men’s long jump at the Fastrack National with a personal-best mark of 7.12 meters.
Indya Hansley (Maryland Eastern Shore) was fifth in the women’s weight throw at the Fastrack National with a PR distance of 15.85 meters.
Makenzie Harris (Morgan State) ran an 8.94 in the men’s 60-meter hurdles to finish fifth at the Darius Dixon Memorial.
Tia Jackson (Morgan State) was third in both the women’s high jump (1.63 meters) and long jump (5.88 meters) at the Darius Dixon Memorial.
Gidion Sigei (Norfolk State) won the men’s mile (4:18.48) and 3,000 meters (8:28.50) at the D-II Pre-National.
Dexter Ratliff (South Carolina State) won the men’s weight throw (14.54 meters) and came in second in the men’s shot put (13.07 meters) at the Florida Invitational.
Debrielle Williams (South Carolina State) helped the Bulldogs come in third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:02.62 at the Florida Invitational.
