Spartans Sweep Mile Podium at HBCU Showcase

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- 
Norfolk State swept the podium in the mile run, the highlight performance for the Spartans at the KPMG HBCU Showcase at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.
 
Gidion Sigei ran a personal best of 4:15.55 to take first place, while Regan Kimtai followed closely behind in second at 4:20.93. Brian Rotich rounded out the top-three with a 4:16.16 in his first mile competition of the season.

For the women, Mercyline Kimaiyo and Leslie Young captured victories; Kimaiyo won the women's one mile, while Young recorded the top spot in the weight throw.

Delaware State Men Finish Second at HBCU Showcase

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- 
The Delaware State indoor track & field teams returned to action at the HBCU Showcase held at the Armory Track.
 
As a team, the Hornet men placed second out of 16 teams with a total of 88.5 points. 

The eomen placed sixth out of 16 teams with a total of 52 points.

Howard Has Strong Track & Field Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. | NEW YORK, N.Y. -- 
Howard University track & field closed out the weekend with a pair of solid performances at the Rod McCravy Invitational, hosted by the University of Kentucky, and the annual HBCU Battle in New York City.

NCCU Wins Three Events in Season Opener

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- 
North Carolina Central achieved 12 top-five finishes, including three event victories, during the Eagles' indoor track and field season debut at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge on Saturday, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

On the track, NCCU senior Donnell Carter was the first to cross the finish line in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 51.33 seconds. In the field, junior Joidon Boddie posted a distance of 11.92 meters (39-1.25) to win the women's triple jump, while freshman Lamont Victoria soared 2.13 meters (6-11.75) in his first college meet to claim victory in the men's high jump.

Bears Strong at VMI Invitational; Asinor Breaks Pole Vault Record

LYNCHUBRG, Va. -- 
The Morgan State men's track and field teams posted a strong effort with several broken personal records Saturday to conclude the VMI Invitational at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Junior Adrian Holley placed 10th in the 60-meter dash semifinals with an IC4A-qualifying time of 6.96.
 
Senior Ali Bowens placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.28, followed by an eighth-place finish by Holley, who clocked a time of 22.29 – both were IC4A qualifying times.

For the women, junior Ishana Asinor broke Morgan's school record in the pole vault, by setting a personal-best mark with a height of 10 feet-10 inches.

Coppin State Opens Season at HBCU Showcase

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- 
Led by Noxroy Wright with a pair of top-five finishes, Coppin State's men opened the indoor portion of its schedule at the KPMG HBCU Showcase on Saturday at the Armory Track & Field Center. 

Making his CSU debut, Wright opened the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash in 6.89, just after running a 6.90 in the prelims.  Later, Wright took the silver in the 400-meter dash in 49.73. Wright also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay that placed sixth in 3:22.73 along with Rashaun Stewart, Jeff Hammond and Amadou Ba.

On the women's side, Jahmel Wyatt won the 500-meter dash, while Halutie Hor posted a pair of top-five finishes
