MEAC Statement on Delaware State University Women’s Lacrosse

NORFOLK, Va., May 12, 2022 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is extremely disturbed by the report published in The Hornet Newspaper detailing the traffic stop made by police in Liberty County, Ga., on April 20, which involved the Delaware State University women’s lacrosse team’s charter bus as they returned to campus following their final game of the season.

The details of the incident, as well as the video that has circulated online, are particularly jarring. The conference fully supports Delaware State University President Dr. Tony Allen, his administration, and the entire university community as they embark on their own investigation into that day’s events. The MEAC will continue to offer solidarity with Delaware State University and the women’s lacrosse program as the institution moves forward with its proceedings on the matter.
