NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 17, 2022 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host the 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va., Monday-Wednesday, Feb. 21-23.
Wednesday’s action will be streamed live on the MEAC Digital Network on YouTube at 1 p.m.
This will be the first MEAC indoor championship since 2020; there was no indoor meet in 2021 after several programs opted out of the indoor season due to COVID-19. The 2022 meet will see the conference crown new champions, as North Carolina A&T State had won each of the last four MEAC indoor titles on both the men’s and women’s sides.
All eight MEAC member institutions will be competing.
Competition will get underway on Monday at 2 p.m. with the start of the men’s heptathlon. Day one will also see the MEAC hand out its first medals of the three-day event, crowning champions in the men’s and women’s long jump and 5,000-meter runs.
The men’s heptathlon will wrap up at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, and the women’s heptathlon will get underway at 9:20 a.m. Running events will get underway with the women’s 60-meter hurdle preliminary heats at 12 p.m., and Tuesday’s action will wrap up with the women’s and men’s distance medley races.
Wednesday’s action will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s pole vault. Running events will get underway at 12:30 p.m. with the women’s mile run.
Tickets are currently on sale through the Virginia Beach Sports Center and will also be on sale on-site throughout the event. There will be no cash sales. Fans can purchase single-day tickets for $10 on Monday, $15 on Tuesday and $20 on Wednesday.
